Gluten-free and organic bread in Bogota

The great thing about this blog is that it has put me in touch with so many great people. The other day I received a message from Alejandra, who wanted to tell me about the organic bread and other types of bread that she and her friends bake. She kindly brought me some to try, and I can really recommend it! This is a good option for people who are gluten-intolerant but still want to enjoy eating bread, and for anyone who prefers to eat organic (or who just wants to eat tasty bread!).

Background

Semi-wholemeal baguette

Alejandra told me that she had had real difficulty finding organic products in Bogota. Although there are now a few organisations offering organic fruit and vegetables, she couldn’t find any selling organic bread. Two of her friends were already baking artisanal, multigrain and vegan bread, so she decided to join them, specializing in organic and gluten-free bread.

They work with a supplier in the Colombian state of Nariño who provides them with non-GM, organic flour, free from chemicals. If you contact Alejandra via the contact form on their website or via email and tell her the type of bread you would like, they can make it for you on demand, and deliver within 48 hours. From the type of flour, dough, and yeast content you prefer, they can cater to your needs.

Different types of bread made to order

Here is a list of some of the types of bread they bake (but if you don’t see any here that calls your attention, email Alejandra and tell her what you want!):

gluten-free bread
bread sticks
white or wholemeal oregano bread
wholemeal bread for sandwiches
sourdough
100% wholemeal loaf
multigrain bread (with sesame seeds, linseed and sunflower seeds)
quinoa bread
focaccia
ciabatta
organic bread with chocolate, red-berry jam or arequipe (like caramel) filling
soft rolls
semi-wholemeal baguettes

Alejandra will be able to tell you the price of the bread you want, according to the type and quantity, when you contact her. She writes very well in English, so feel free to write to her in English if you want. They charge $4,000 pesos for delivery or $2,500 pesos for orders over $25,000. As the bread is baked on demand and requires a certain amount of time for the fermentation process, they can deliver within two days.

Website and contact details

Their English webpage has a list of some of the bread they make, along with prices. They also have a Spanish website.

To make an order or ask if they can bake your preferred bread, send Alejandra a message on WhatsApp at: +57-316-365-3007
